Best Pet Photo Tips
I am often asked for advice when it comes to taking photos of pets for me to use for a pet painting. Here are a few tips to help you to take the best pet photo:
- It's best to photograph your pet in outside in natural sunlight or indoors next to a window because using a camera flash flattens a lot of detail.
- Take your picture on eye level with your pet and try to have the nose pointing down a bit - this avoids unnatural distortion of nose or jaw.
- If you want a nicely detail shot of your pets head, make sure your camera is close enough or use a zoom shot.
- Think of the characteristic things your pet does, such as tricks or sitting in a certain way, and photo him then - it may take a bit of patience or persuasion!
- Action shots are easy to take with a modern digital camera on automatic settings, so go ahead and be creative.
Don't be afraid to experiment and take lots of shots to get the one that you think best shows your pets personality - even if they are a bit off-centre they can still be useful.
